I Am The Choices I Make!

Everything in life is a choice! I choose to go to work or call in sick. When the sun is out I have a choice to go to the beach, lie down on the park or stay indoors and watch movies. I choose what time to go to bed and what time to wake up. I choose my friends and those I hang out with. In everything I do in everyday of my life I’m surrounded with different choices and I alone can choose wisely.

We’ve all made bad choices and perhaps hated ourselves for it. I know I did! But I realized after a while good things usually comes out of bad choices. Lessons are learned and character strengthened. Relationship improves and so is dealing with everyday circumstances. I hated my bad choices and for making them but in the end, it helped me. I saw myself I never did before. It continually changes me. I’m not there yet but I’m glad I’m not where I used to be.

People say, ‘We are what we eat’. I say, ‘We are the Choices we make’. Having choices are easy but choosing well is not. We’ve all made stupid choices based on our emotions and current circumstances. We promised not to do the same again, yet despite of hard work we still fail. Being on the conscious state of mind is hard work. Hardly all of us stop and rethink before we do or say anything. We cannot control what happens to us but we have a choice on how to deal with it. At some point we will face misfortune, someone will wrong us, mistreat us or even talk behind our back. It will not always be a smooth sailing, the weather will change and it’s our choice to change our course or remain calm in the current condition. Jimmy Dean said once ‘I can’t change the direction of the wind but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination’. That is very true! The power is in our hands. You and I are capable of making the right choices. The only question now is ‘What choice would I choose?

All that we are all that we have become and all that we could be are because of the choices we make, not of luck or chance. Choose well my friend. Choose with your heart, not with your head or emotions. Stop, think, rewind and think again before making choices. We are in control, not the other person or the circumstances. This is a learning process and it takes time to get use to it but as we do it often it gets better and easier.

My life is completely different from yours. You can do better than me. Just because I went through some negative experiences it doesn’t mean you have to, to understand it. It’s possible to live a joyful positive life without making bad choices. We cannot all be the same. Life is a journey and we choose the path that seems reasonable and right. No one can make the choices for us but guidance must not be ignored. I choose my path. Defeat or victory awaits me not because of the journey but choosing well with my heart because it is in my ‘choosing’ that defines my character and the person I truly am.

  1. I love what you’ve posted. This topic definitely caught my eyes when I checked out your blog… By the way great theme on your blog! Other than that I would definitely agree with you. We really are what we chose to be. I am struggling with that dilemma myself. I want things but I am afraid of going for them. I think fear/laziness/negativity in general is what keeps us from achieving what WE WANT. I think you would agree with me when I say this, but evil is what keeps us from the better good. I just wanted to let you know how much I loved your post and how much I felt an attachment to the words. I am the choice I make!
