The Will to Act

We all have a dream. Everyone dream of something big. A dream perhaps we have since our childhood. A dream we strongly believe it’s inevitable. A dream we continually pursue, determined and convinced one day that dream would become a reality.

But dreams don’t come easily. Hard work and sacrifices play an important role. Sometimes hard choices need to be made or be left with decisions no one else can make apart from you. It’s easy to have dreams achieving them is another story. If life is a journey then so is our dreams!

Everyday you and I make different choices either big or small. We are left to choose to enjoy our day, what we have or burden ourselves with what we keep wishing for. While dreams begin with the mind, it ends with determination and the will to act, to pursue and not give up. Inspiration may be absent but it should not be an excused not to press hard and make the impossible possible. We cannot wait for the right moment because the right moment could be now and when ‘waiting for the right moment’ becomes a habit we could have missed our opportunity.

We all have our flaws. We get distracted easily. We make up excuses. We daydream. We bludge. We leave things on the last minute or put things aside. Our social circles and other commitments prevent us from our main goal. These days there are many distractions from achieving our dreams and mostly it revolves around us.

People are important to me. Socialising is a must. Parties, the club scene, beaches and parks are few things I cannot live without. I have my own weaknesses. Most of the time I feel uninspired and discouraged. I am my own enemy. I dream big but do little. I keep putting things off. I made many wrong decisions. I put my own happiness ahead of what really counts. I am at war with my own self.

Whatever we want in life. No one can give it to us other than ourselves. It’s up to you and I to make things happen. If miracles don’t come, create one. If opportunity doesn’t knock, just go after it. If everything seems silent, make some noise. Try and keep on trying. Do not give up. Never pay attention to any negative comments especially those who don’t believe in you and in your dreams. It will discourage you but never ever give in to any of them. Only believe and keep on believing because only you who can prove them wrong.

I’m a very complicated person. Easy to read but hard to understand. I can play mind games but never take sides. My dreams are for my books to be a best seller, be a great writer and continue writing. But I must sacrifice a lot, even my own happiness. I must evaluate and rethink. I’m adjusting my direction without losing myself while at the same time, achieving my dreams.

It’s never too late to start anew and learn from our mistakes. Those wasted years are long gone and instead focusing on them, turn our attention to what we can do now because everyone has the ability to change and do something worthwhile. All of us have something to give regardless of our background. We are all good at something. Never undervalue your gifts or compare yourself to others. All of us can benefit from each other by giving our best and not by competing.

Achieving our dreams will seem impossible and too long and failures might come often but it is our willingness to continue, pursue and believe that miracles happen. It is our willingness to act, take action and make the right choices can make the impossible possible. Don’t sit around and dream. Go after it step by step. Distractions are sweet and inviting, but take heed and be the master of your own soul.

  1. The sad truth is that people hear words of encouragement so often about their dreams and their passions that they just think wishing hard enough is enough to make a difference. It’s all about the title of this post, the will to act. In a way, it’s also the ambition to succeed, don’t you think?

    • That’s very true Joe, wishing and dreaming is not enough. Anyone can do that. ‘Ambition to succeed’ must also be a priority and that’s the big difference. I believe anyone can achieve anything, only if they have the ambition to succeed!

      • It’s really interesting that you mention ambition. I believe it’s the same thing necessary to pursue and achieve dreams. My latest blog post is about that in fact. Feel free to come check it out!
